Tulsa World reports on the latest major redevelopment project aimed at fostering arts, culture, and local business in downtown Tulsa.
The George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF) is taking on another ambitious project in the Brady Arts District, as reported by Tulsa World. The foundation is set to revitalize a 72,000-square-foot warehouse on Archer Street, investing between $25 million and $30 million in its transformation. This redevelopment will add 14 artist apartments, 35 creative workspaces, and up to 10 retail spaces on the first floor.
Most of the retail spaces have already been leased, with confirmed tenants including Magic City Books, Glacier Chocolate, and Holy Mountain Records. GKFF aims to attract unique local businesses to enhance the district’s cultural offerings. The renovation is also fueled by the overwhelming response to the Tulsa Artist Fellowship program, which initially planned for 12 fellows but received 350 applications. With the new Archer Building spaces, the fellowship can expand its reach to more visual artists and writers.

Lilly Architects is leading the historic renovation, focusing on uncovering original architectural elements, including masonry-filled openings and old signage, while preserving the building’s 1926 character.
