Fresh, bold, and fired up in the park.
A Dining Experience in a Familiar Setting
Located within the "Dock" Pavilion at Guthrie Green, En Fuego occupies a space originally designed as a simple concession stand. This improvements, led by Lilly Architects, breathes new life into the pavilion while honoring its original intent as a community-oriented space. By merging thoughtful design with practical functionality, En Fuego offers a dining experience that feels right at home in this lively urban park.
From Concession Stand to Restaurant
The "Dock" Pavilion’s original purpose as a concession stand informed the thoughtful approach to its redesign. Retaining its openness and accessibility, the space was adapted to accommodate a full-service restaurant while preserving its connection to the surrounding park. Floor-to-ceiling glass invites natural light and park views into the space, creating an environment that feels integrated with Guthrie Green’s vibrant activities.
Simple, Functional, and Inviting
The interior design reflects a balance of simplicity and warmth, aligning with both the pavilion’s origins and En Fuego’s mission to provide an approachable dining experience. Clean lines, natural materials, and neutral tones form the foundation of the space, while thoughtful details like a striking central bar and subtle lighting create a sense of understated sophistication. The result is a space that feels comfortable yet refined, inviting guests to linger and connect.
Bridging Indoors and Outdoors: A Seamless Connection
En Fuego’s design embraces its unique location at Guthrie Green, making the most of its proximity to the park’s lively programming. The restaurant’s expansive patio and floor-to-ceiling windows ensure that the line between indoors and outdoors remains fluid, allowing diners to enjoy the energy of the park while relaxing in a modern, comfortable setting.
A Meaningful Transformation
For Lilly Architects, the opportunity to transform the "Dock" Pavilion into En Fuego carried added significance. Chris Lilly, founding principal of Lilly Architects, was the design architect for Guthrie Green during his tenure at another firm, making this project a chance to revisit and enhance a space with deep roots in his career. This thoughtful transformation reflects Lilly Architects’ commitment to adaptive reuse and functional, client-focused design. En Fuego now stands as an example of how a space originally intended for simple concessions can evolve into a vibrant and welcoming destination.
